The NEOP Program engages and educates churches in low income underserved populations of the Antelope Valley on obesity prevention and obesity-related diseases prevention with the goal of improving the health of these communities. The Program Coordinators work with church leaders to assess the nutrition and physical activity needs of the congregation, facilitate the planning process for making positive health behavior changes, train church representatives, and coordinate events, classes, and training that promote healthy living in an active community. The intended outcome of this program is to equip churches with the tools to sustain an active living and healthy eating habits in their communities.

Next steps for our nutrition program is to work closely with institutions and environments such as faith-based communities, schools, and parks to implement Policy, Systems and Environmental (PSE) changes to improve the health and wellness of all residents in the Antelope Valley.
