A sense of permanency–knowing there are people who will always love you–is critical to a child’s development. Foster care, of course, is designed to be a temporary refuge until the child can enter a permanent, safe living situation. Sometimes, foster care can lead to adoption. When this is the best outcome for the child, AASK is there to help with the foster to adopt process. There are sometimes potholes on path to permanency, however, and it is important for any foster family or potential adoptive family to keep that in mind. There is always the possibility a child in foster care may return to the biological parents.
