The San Gabriel Valley attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists. Because of its easy access and major attractions such as the Rose Bowl, Santa Anita Race Track, Fairplex, and Huntington Gardens, it also attracts many southern California visitors as well, particularly on weekends.

Chinese tourists are particularly drawn to the region because of the temples, gardens, and authentic Asian cuisine the region offers. The average Chinese visitor to Los Angeles County spends about $1,400 per trip, which is $600-$1,000 more than domestic tourist averages statewide.

In 2013, total Hospitality and Tourism sector employment increased by over 3,300 jobs, increasing the total number of people employed in the industry to 67,000. The average San Gabriel Valley hotel occupancy rate in 2013 was up to 77.4% from 61% in 2009.
