The Community Service Officer (CSO) is a non-sworn position in the patrol operations division that acts as a support unit for most of the non-enforcement activities in patrol. These activities include:

  • Initial report taking on most property crimes
  • Evidence collection at crime scenes
  • Parking enforcement
  • Clerical duties

The CSO holds primarily a field duty position and handles a variety of other duties as assigned by the patrol sergeant such as traffic control, training, towed vehicles, and property collection and release.
