about
The Prevention Department

Our Goal:

Through prevention education , we encourage our youth to be tobacco, alcohol and drug free by promoting healthy choices and lifestyles. To help create a healthier, happier alcohol, tobacco and drug free community now and for our future.

While the funding for this particular department originally started off aimed at youth, we have discovered that parents and even educators themselves are finding our program informational and educational. We are constantly searching for the "fad facts" on the latest trends for things like e-cigarettes, "molly" and bathsalts. We answer those odd questions like "what is a skittles party?" or "will i know if my child is using drugs or alcohol?" We are able to show participants both young and old(er) what some of these products look like, how they may be disguised, and some of the signs to look for that someone you know may be experimenting with one or more.

We go beyond the "just say no" and try to teach kids the "why's" and the "How's" by helping them realize that there is always an "out". We help them start thinking about how they are going to react to many of the situations they will some day be faced with. We encourage parent involvement and provide parent/educator courses as well as the state mandated classes we teach within the schools.
