Alan founded ANR in 1978 after years of experience in both academia and business, but never straying very far from consumer research. After completing graduate studies at the State University of New York at Buffalo, he served as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Kentucky, then served as Research Director at both Arthur Bolton Associates in Washington, DC, and The Computer Company in Richmond, VA. In 1982, four years after founding ANR, Alan sold ANR to The Martin Agency where he served on the executive committee. In 1994 Alan re-purchased ANR. Today Alan Newman Research is Virginias largest, independent, market research company. Under Alan's leadership, ANR remains committed to giving every client reliable, accurate, valid and smart market research. When he's not working, Alans traveling the country in his RV with his wife Sylvia and their dogs.
