Welcome To

Sacramento Children's Museum

Our Mission To spark a passion for life-long learning. We will accomplish our mission by providing a place where children are encouraged to think for themselves, expand their problem-solving abilities through creative exploration, and exercise both their bodies and their minds.

About the Museum The Sacramento Childrens Museum (SCM) was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 2005. It is the vision of local educators who saw the need for inspiring learning through interactivity. SCM seeks to build an environment in which learning is exciting and enriching for children and their families and facilitated through exploration and hands-on activities.

The desire in Sacramento to build a children's museum was so great, that the organization quickly grew to include local business people, children's advocates, educators, physicians, attorneys, librarians, and others. This group embarked on a journey to determine how to best meet the needs of the children in our community ages birth to eight years old, and the 7,000-square-foot Sacramento Children's Museum is the result. Built by Roebbelen Contracting, Inc., the Museum opened to the public on August 25, 2011.

We will accomplish our mission by providing a place where children are encouraged to think for themselves, expand their problem-solving abilities through creative exploration, and exercise both their bodies and their minds..
