Gorge Youth Mentoring

Gorge Youth Mentoring, a vital initiative by The Next Door, is dedicated to positively transforming children's lives. This program pairs volunteer mentors with young individuals aged 6 to 21, fostering relationships that build confidence, develop skills, and encourage fun activities. Mentors, after a detailed screening process, are matched with mentees based on shared interests and personality compatibility. Together, they engage in diverse activities such as hiking, cooking, and arts, dedicating about eight hours monthly over at least a year. This mentorship is provided at no cost to the mentees or their families, with ongoing support from GYM coordinators through regular check-ins and organized events. The program aims to enhance academic performance, deter engagement in risky behaviors, and boost self-esteem.
