Patterson Observatory

The University South Foundation, Inc. proudly owns and maintains the Patterson Observatory on the University of Arizona Sierra Vista Campus, a true gateway to the wonders of the universe. Operated by dedicated Huachuca Astronomy Club volunteers, the observatory hosts free, family‑friendly Public Viewing Nights featuring a powerful 20‑inch Ritchey‑Chrétien telescope capable of revealing objects a million times fainter than the human eye can see. As a recognized NASA Space Place and member of the NASA Night Sky Network, the observatory also welcomes youth, school, and community groups by appointment, inspiring discovery and learning for all.
