Mariners & Angels Split DH
Detmers, Fletcher help Angels split DH with M’s; Moniak hurt
SEATTLE (AP) — Reid Detmers pitched seven smooth innings, Mickey Moniak hit his second home run in three days before getting injured, and the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 7-1 to split their doubleheader. David Fletcher homered and drove in three runs for the Angels, who dropped the opener 2-1 as Ty France hit a two-run homer and George Kirby struck out eight over six innings for Seattle. In the nightcap, Moniak made it 3-0 in the fourth with his third major league homer. But he exited in the ninth after taking a pitch off his finger on a bunt attempt. The top pick in the 2016 amateur draft was acquired from Philadelphia at Tuesday’s trade deadline in a deal for pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
