Medical assistants have many duties such as taking the vital signs of patients, conducting in-office screening tests, collecting and preparing specimens to send to diagnostic laboratories, and recording medical histories. Medical assistants usually work under the supervision of a provider in a clinical setting but hospital positions do exist.
