Fire Ants
Like other types of ants, fire ants live in colonies that can include hundreds of thousands of ants, so they can quickly take over a backyard. Fire ants create mounds and when those are disturbed, they become extremely aggressive and will sting anyone nearby. In most cases, a sting from a fire ant is only a minor raised welt that is slightly painful. For some individuals though, a fire ant sting can pose a much greater risk.
