Historical Museum

The Bethalto Historical Museum, located in the original Village Hall, is a two-story brick Victorian/Italianate building dating back to 1873. Recognized as the oldest active governmental building in Madison County, it holds a significant place on the National Register of Historic Places. The museum showcases a pictorial history of the village, featuring exhibits on various aspects of Bethalto's past, including its citizens' involvement in World Wars I and II, the founding of the town, annual Homecoming Celebrations, early police, and fire departments, governmental departments, churches, and a recreated classroom from the past.
