Mission Statement

The Town of Wawarsing’s Building Department ensures the safe and lawful use of over 6300 properties with over 3200 structures by enforcing various laws of The Town of Wawarsing including its Zoning Law and by enforcing New York State’s Uniform Building Codes. We do this in accordance with other regulations imposed onto the Town of Wawarsing by the county, state, and by the federal government. Our main activities include performing compliance reviews for plans, issuing various permits, and inspecting structures and properties. We also investigate complaints about properties and we prosecute un-remediated violations in court. Voluntary compliance is appreciated.
