Breakfast/Snack Time with Books, an initiative by Spread the Word Nevada, aims to enhance family literacy by engaging families and students in literacy-based activities. The program facilitates family participation in read-aloud sessions that demonstrate effective reading skills for parents to use at home. Each session highlights a specific literacy skill and features a book that reinforces this skill. Families attending these sessions receive a book to add to their home library, have the opportunity to select additional books, enjoy refreshments, and can win prizes.
