The Graduate Richmond project involved the transformation and renovation of the former Double Tree hotel on West Franklin Street, located near the VCU campus. The initiative by the Graduate franchise aimed to revitalize a distressed property by introducing modern amenities, services, and a distinctive rooftop restaurant or bar, designed to attract the student population and integrate with the community. The project's highlight was the innovative addition of a structural platform on the existing rooftop, achieved by extending the columns to support a new steel framework. This development not only enhanced the building's functionality but also established it as a vibrant hub in the downtown area.
